They’ve arrived! Quite a lot later than originally quoted and with a whole bunch of port handling fees that I wasn’t warned about, and some surreal-level OCD quarantine inspections* – but they arrived! Even the sad, desperate makeshift box made it intact (but only barely).
However, considering the fledgling state of renovations in my downstairs studio however, I suspect it will take a fair bit of time before it can be unpacked as most of it doesn’t have a place to live yet.
But my stuff has arrived, untouched and intact. Aside from the final hurdle of getting myself into full time employment asap, I can finally start to relax.
* Life tip – don’t hand over the packing list you made for yourself to customs inspectors. To my annoyance I discovered that items such as ‘Mexican blanket’ may in fact be literally translated as a blanket you possibly purchased off an illicit street vendor in Mexico City that is probably infested with Mexican dog fleas and cocaine…
Maybe they were just having a slow afternoon.
Glad they didn’t find my stash of Class A drugs though! (I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether or not I’m joking).
